Queries View

In this article you'll learn:

  • What you'll find on the Queries page in Heap
  • How queries move into the queries queue and what happens when they go from in-progress to complete

Overview

The Queries page provides you with complete context on all of the recent queries run in your Heap account. It can also serve as a queue for queries you’re currently running. Upon execution, every query in Heap generates a unique permalink that you can revisit, even if it isn’t saved in a report.

Query History

The queries view shows all recent queries executed by any teammate in your Heap account in reverse chronological order. Within this view, you’ll see a brief description of the query, who ran it, and when it was run. Upon selection of any query in the list, you’ll be taken to the analysis module associated with the query, and the query will be auto-generated for you. You can use this as an easy way to regenerate any query previously run, or to use your colleague’s work as a starting point for your own.

Any queries that you’ve personally run within the current session will be presented separately as ‘Queries You Ran This Session’ for ease of access to your recent work.

Query Queuing

Whenever a query is run, the query enters a Queries in Progress queue on the queries page. You can execute as many different queries sequentially as you’d like without having to wait for one to return results.

Once completed, you’ll receive an in-app notification that you can click on to see the completed query. You can also visit the Queries You Ran This Session section to access these results.
