Setting your Time Zone
You can review and update your time zone in Heap by navigating to Account > Manage > Personal Settings and scrolling to the Time Zone section.
Effects of Your Time Zone Setting
Heap ingests all data in UTC, so your time zone settings affect how data appears to you in Heap. There are some common issues that may arise depending on your time zone, such as if you and a teammate are looking at the same report and seeing different results (and the reports are not cached at different times), you should check your respective time zones.
If you have your time zone set to a country east of the UTC/GMT line, you may also encounter the following issues:
- Your report and event preview chart may include tomorrow’s date.
- During daylight savings time, your line charts may appear jagged, with duplicated dates and table reports (including retention reports) subtly mislabeled.
These are visual issues only; your data is still correct. You can resolve these visual issues by exporting your data to CSV.
